Seyi Makinde grants pardon to 35 prisoners in celebration of democracy day


Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has granted amnesty to 35 prisoners in commemoration of today’s Democracy Day. This was made known in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa. The Governor also wrote on social media;

‘’To mark Democracy Day, I granted pardons to 35 prisoners in Oyo State as provided for under Section 212 of the Constitution of the Fed Rep of Nig 1999 (as amended). Our Democracy Day celebrations will be low-key as we reflect on the significance of June 12. Happy Democracy Day!’’
